Recensione a F. Bagni, Review of F. Bagni, Sandboxing Innovation. Designing Regulatory Sandboxes for AI and Cybersecurity, Milano, 2026
Torino places the book at the moment when regulatory sandboxes move from a policy option to an obligation for Member States. He walks through its four chapters: the notion of a sandbox and its use cases, the mapping of the legal bases (the AI Act, the Cyber Resilience Act and the Interoperable Europe Act), thirteen interviews with sandbox operators and participants, and the proposal of a permanent committee among the competent authorities, tested on the Italian case. Among the points he finds most valuable are the cross-sector mapping, the way the link between AI and cybersecurity becomes a criterion for institutional design, and the openness with which the author also reports evidence that cuts against his own hypothesis. He concludes that, for anyone designing a national sandbox today, this is the book to start from.
